BIOL 483 - Infection, Immunity and Evolution of Disease (3 units) This course offers a detailed study of the biology of infectious disease. Topics include the biology of infectious agents, immunology, disease ecology and the role evolution in disease.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 192 ; BIOL 300 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain the fundamental biology of hosts and pathogens. 2. discuss how this biology relates to problems of societal concern. 3. describe how scientific developments affect individual and public health. 4. demonstrate knowledge of disease-related biological advancements and their impact on historical and modern societies.
