EDRL 739 - Teaching English to adults abroad and in the United States (3 units) Prepare to instruct and assess skills of adult English second language learners abroad and in the U.S. Instructional methods, assessment of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, theoretical frameworks of 2nd language acquisition.
Students should have completed coursework in second language acquisition at either the graduate or undergraduate level.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. plan English instruction and assessment for adults that is appropriate to their level of English proficiency 2. create curricular materials for adults that is appropriate to their English proficiency 3. identify key cultural/social mores at a selected school for teaching English.
