AGSC 611 - Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Agriculture and Beyond (3 units) This course combines knowledge of integrated pest management of insects and weeds with analytical, managerial, and communication skills to address real-world problems in a diversity of management systems.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. design a pest management plan that incorporates pest biology, available management tools, economic thresholds, environmental and human health risks, and pesticide resistance management. 2. utilize critical thinking for decision making. 3. find information pertaining to and demonstrate comprehension of emerging pest control technologies and how they can be used to complement existing management tools. 4. synthesize scientific literature to outline how past technologies and scientific understanding have shaped IPM practices through time.
