CHS 788 - Data Science and Statistical Computation in Public Health (3 units) An introductory-level course in statistical learning and data mining. This course will cover a basic concept of data mining and techniques used in data mining. Students will learn the general concepts of computation statistics with public health application.
Prerequisite(s): CHS 780 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. assess the strengths and shortcomings of various methods in data science, machine learning, and computational statistics. 2. utilize appropriate data science and machine learning methods to solve problems in a given public health context. 3. manage and analyze large and complex health data, with a particular emphasis on “Big data.”
