NRES 455 - Soil Genesis and Morphology (3 units) Advanced insights into soil forming processes, soil morphology and soil classification. The course will consist of lectures, lab activities and field trips.
Prerequisite(s): NRES 322 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 2 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe and explain fundamental concepts of soil genesis. 2. describe a soil profile using basic morphological characteristics. 3. evaluate relationships between soil properties and landscape position. 4. classify soils using the USDA Soil Taxonomy system.
