EDRL 741 - Language Learning and Identity in Educational Contexts (3 units) Issues in language learning and identity in education: 2nd language acquisition identity theories, policy issues, pedagogies addressing the relationship between language and the identities culturally and linguistically diverse student populations can claim.
Prerequisite(s): Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain and interpret the ideas associated with second language acquisition theory and its intersection with identity theory. 2. conduct research and synthesize information gained from course readings, class discussion, and outside readings on a range of topics related to language learning and identity . 3. develop informed arguments about the major theoretical and pedagogical trends, debates, and innovations as they relate to the identities of culturally and linguistically diverse students. 4. present research findings to peers and faculty members in a professional manner.
