EDRL 744 - Methods and Materials for Teaching ESL to Adults (3 units) Examination of contemporary methods, materials, curriculum for teaching adults who speak English as a second language (ESL). Students will design instruction, curriculum and assessments across the 4 domains of writing, reading, listening and speaking for adults.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 units: 150-minutes per week X 15 weeks Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. create research-based instruction for adult English as a second language speakers in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking. 2. draw on contemporary research and critique contemporary texts and curriculum for adult English as a second language students. 3. draw on contemporary research to select contemporary curriculum for adult ESL students in the areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking and listening.
