BIOL 611 - Comparative Biomechanics (3 units) This course will review bio-material properties, muscles, scaling laws, animal sensory systems and central pattern generators. Students will learn about jumping fleas, sliding slugs, flying flies, gripping geckos, trotting turkeys, and so much more. (BIOL 611 and ME 611 are cross-listed; credits may be earned in one of the two.)

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies. 2. apply engineering research and theory to advance the art, science, and practice of the discipline. 3. apply scientific research and theory to advance knowledge about biological systems.
