SPTM 730 - Sports Operation & Management (3 units) This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental principles of operations and management within a sport organization. Students will gain an understanding of the various internal operations of a sports organization such as human resources, support units, facilities, and event management.
Maximum units a student may earn: 3
Prerequisite(s): Sports Management, Graduate Certificate.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate a knowledge of human resources practices in sports organizations, including staffing, roles, contracts & negotiation, and performance management. 2. develop a plan to identify, develop, and coordinate support departments to realize the mission and vision of the sports organization. 3. demonstrate knowledge of the planning, maintenance, and financing of sports facilities. 4. demonstrate an understanding of the components necessary to plan and execute a successful sporting event.
