Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. write lucid, well-constructed arguments analyzing and interpreting texts. 2. analyze a literary work in its cultural and historical contexts. 3. develop strategies for reading and interpreting the poetry, drama, and fiction of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. 4. identify the Romantic movement in literature in Britain, and explain the defining features of Romanticism. 5. employ and apply critical and theoretical texts to primary works.
