ART 607 - Creative Problem Solving II (3 units) This course helps to identify multiple perspectives to construct a holistic approach to making. The passions that propel creative practice to be critically engaged also require artistic practice to be flexible and relevant in order to be sustainable. In addition to UNR faculty widening the scope of imaginative problem solving, visiting faculty will provide opportunities for looking at ways to approach the construction and viability of a contemporary artists practice. Prerequisite(s): formerly Sierra Nevada University Interdisciplinary Art MFA student.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. create finished artworks that utilize their voices and demonstrate the complexities of context in individual form. 2. design and execute artworks from a sustainable ethical practice. 3. demonstrate an understanding of the entrepreneurial spirit, and define possible relationships to their practice in writing or form and be capable of creative interdisciplinary responses to potential opportunities. 4. produce an art practice mission/artist statement that incorporates a conceptual framework, creative problem solving strategies to address specific issues, and a personal ethical position with regard to nature and culture. 5. evidence a refined familiarity with their practice in and outside of a contemporary art conversation. Tools acquired would allow students to better understand avenues to express their ideas and to pursue their individual research.
