EDRS 754 - Ethnographic Research in Education (3 units) This course trains students in the epistemologies, data collection and analysis strategies, and ethical considerations for conducting ethnographic research in a school or other educational setting.

Prerequisite(s): EDRS 752 .

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the principal research methods of educational anthropology (for example, participant observation, structured and unstructured interviews, the use key informants, etc.). 2. explain the goals of various methods utilized in ethnographic research. 3. identify ethical considerations in ethnographic research with respect to impacts on human subjects. 4. evaluate the reliability and validity of ethnographic research findings. 5. design a research project that utilizes ethnographic research methods appropriate to a specific field site and community of study.
