APST 207 - Practical Statistics (3 units)
Oriented towards those with no prior introduction to concepts of probability and statistics. Emphasis on usefulness of statistics through behavioral, business, criminal justice, environmental, health, and all other social-scientific applications.
Prerequisite(s): ACT of 22 or SAT of 530 or Accuplacer QAS of 276 and AAF of 263 or ALEKS PPL of 46 or or MATH 120 or MATH 126 or higher.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. identify and distinguish cases/units from variables, and identify types of variables and their levels of measurement.
2. demonstrate quantitative reasoning by identifying the appropriate statistical test for the available data, conducting such statistical tests, and interpreting their outputs accurately.
3. create hypotheses, use null hypothesis statistical testing, evaluate assumptions of statistical tests, and identify the possibility of Type I and Type II statistical errors.
4. communicate results of statistical analyses visually in graphs and tables, orally, and in written form.
