CRJ 750 - Policy Analysis and Planned Change in Criminal Justice (3 units) This course examines historical and contemporary policies, along with the internal and external forces, that impact society and the criminal justice system, including justice-involved individuals and criminal justice personnel.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. evaluate programs, procedures, and policies that led to changes in policing, corrections, court and sentencing, and juvenile justice. 2. interpret political, cultural, and intellectual sources of criminal justice public policy. 3. evaluate recent literature examining criminal justice public policy through written critiques. 4. articulate the “dos” and “don’ts” of implementing new programs, procedures, and policies. 5. describe the special challenges and practices of criminal justice administrators. 6. explain how police, court, and correction agencies are organized, their personnel roles and functions, and their issues and problems. 7. discuss the nature and functions of an organization.
