MUS 342 - Music History II (3 units) Survey of Western Art Music from late Beethoven to the present.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 204 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. critically assess specific music examples through actively engaged listening. 2. analyze scores from a historical perspective. 3. articulate how music functions in culture. 4. articulate the ways in which western “art” music has helped shape (and in turn is shaped by) individual and communal senses of self and others. 5. write about music critically, analytically, and historically.
