NURS 353 - Nursing Care of Childbearing Women and Families: Theory (3 units) Theoretical basis for professional nursing with families in health and illness
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Nursing major.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring and Summer
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. integrate scientific principles, knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology specific to women and children. 2. describe common alterations of health and nursing interventions for women, children and families. 3. describe age-appropriate and culturally sensitive communication strategies used in the nursing care for women, children and families. 4. identify appropriate nursing care for women, children and families, utilizing evidence-based practice and research. 5. examine legal and ethical dilemmas and professional practice standards specific to women, children and families.
