WMST 430 - Gender, Literature and the Arts (3 units) CO10, CO13 Examines cultural representations of gender and gender relations through world literatures, philosophy, musical traditions, and fine and applied arts.
Maximum units a student may earn: 9
Prerequisite(s): General Education courses (CO1-CO3) completed; at least 3 courses from CO4-CO8 completed; Junior or Senior standing.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate familiarity with major concepts in and approaches to studies of gender through writing assignments. 2. develop ways to think about the form and content of art, visual, and written culture. 3. sharpen critical skills in reading, discussing, and writing about how gender theory intersects with art, literature, and film. 4. examine how art and literature shape, present, and interrogate gender. 5. respond to course material in a variety of ways that demonstrate communication competencies in writing and other media.
