Colonial society on the eve of rebellion; causes and effects of the Revolution; Constitutional formation and Federalist culture; Jeffersonian America and the War of 1812.

NOTE: This course fulfills CO8 at UNR, but is not guaranteed to satisfy the U.S. and Nevada Constitution requirements at other NSHE institutions.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. explain the cause, course, and outcomes of the Revolutionary War as well as its cultural valences for diverse Americans in different parts of the nation.
2. analyze and interpret primary and secondary sources relating to the Revolutionary War and its cultural valences through class discussion, written assignments, and oral presentations.
3. analyze and understand how the U.S. Constitution emerged out of the context of the Revolutionary War and affected diverse Americans.
4. craft arguments and evince them in a clear and persuasive manner.
