ART 604 - High Desert Installation (3 units) A studio field course working in high desert locations around Tahoe and the Great Basin. Exploring larger issues of sustainable practice, land use, and embodied place by preparing and presenting artwork in the landscape. Maximum of 6 credits.(Formerly SNU: NWGN 510)

Prerequisite(s): formerly Sierra Nevada University Interdisciplinary Art MFA student.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. design and execute artworks from an ethical and sustainable practice within the environment with specific attention to how artwork exists under expansion. 2. posit multiple strategies for visionary practice as it relates to geologic time. 3. produce projects that juxtapose urban and wilderness art-making practice. 4. speak about their work from a collaborative perspective informed by the value of community and the extension of individually defined audience.
