AGSC 308 - New & Emerging Media in Agriculture (3 units) Exploration and practice of communication strategies with new and emerging media and technologies. Focusing on plant and animal agricultural issues, food security, ethical practices, and how agricultural information is disseminated through various media channels.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate understanding of the advanced concepts of agricultural communications and the role they play in business, industry, government, and society. 2. demonstrate proficiency in applying these concepts to real world situations, as demonstrated by the successful and effective implementation of an agriculture-based communications plan using new and emerging media. 3. demonstrate a basic understanding of communications issues involved with animal agriculture, food security, rangeland management, and biotechnology. 4. complete a group presentation and other assignments by the semester’s completion using new and emerging media to address an agricultural communications problem.
