ART 749 - Curatorial Practices and Art Writing

This seminar emphasizes the role of art writing in the domain of curatorial practice and individual artist representation.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. demonstrate in writing and/or form the complexities of context from which contemporary curatorial practice derives and in which it participates.
2. demonstrate an increased ability to speak from the idiosyncratic voice and its relationship to the global positioning of artworks.
3. demonstrate in writing and/or form an understanding of how their individual practices are part of a complex cultural community, with an emphasis on the relationship between the political/personal and the political/global.
4. critique other students and their own work, orally and in writing, informed by a fluid set of critical contexts that demonstrate the integration of global issues and individual places.
