REM 241 - Principles of Range Management (3 units) Identifying and explaining the ecology of a given rangeland area, analyzing the impacts of ecological disturbances, and exploring the ecological, social, and economic aspects of the challenges rangeland stewardship faces today.
A mix of in-person, field learning, and online learning materials and activities. A MANDATORY multiple-day field trip is required. Students will be provided with a full-semester schedule detailing which days are field, in-person, and independent online learning.

Prerequisite: REM 110
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 2 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify geomorphological features and describe how they influence resource flows, soils, and plant distribution. 2. use soils, ecological site information and make observations of a given land area to develop a site brief. 3. identify and explain dominant disturbances within Western US rangelands. 4. assess, explain, and suggest applications of a given STM. 5. explain the basic tenets of grazing ecology and management using appropriate terminology. 6. explain the theoretical principles of rangeland management. 7. list and explain the ecological, social, and economic aspects of challenges rangeland stewardship faces today.
