The Applied Integrated Skills 4-Undergraduate course is designed to improve the academic language and skills of undergraduate students at the CEFR level B1+-B2.

Students will develop oral and written arguments and expositions. Students will practice organizational strategies for formal papers, including analysis, descriptive, narrative, cause and effect, opinion, and persuasive essays. Students analyze texts and recorded talks in discussions, and learn notetaking strategies to organize ideas.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. identify the the main idea and key details of an extended text.
2. identify relationships among key ideas in an extended text.
3. identify the organization of a conversation or talk, using various signal words and expressions.
4. give expository and argumentative presentations, supporting them with concrete and abstract ideas from sources and personal experience.
5. state and support opinions in a group discussion or debate, and work towards a group consensus about a final decision or plan.
6. write a well-organized and well-supported essay that follows the standard pattern for analysis, description, narrative, opinion, persuasion, and cause and effect.
