MUS 203 - Music Theory I (3 units) Counterpoint and harmony (written and keyboard). (Formerly MUS 207; implemented Fall 2004.)
Prerequisite(s): Score of 60% or higher on the “OnMusic Fundamentals Placement Exam” or MUS 101 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered Every Fall Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of music fundamentals such as pitch, key, and intervallic identification as well as scale construction and proper notation. 2. Students will be able to construct diatonic triads and 7th chords in root position and their inversions. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of voice leading principles, 4-part writing and Roman numeral analysis.
