Description
The Department of Managerial Sciences offers a major in Marketing that aims to provide students strategic insight and practical tactics for one of the most vital components of modern business. Marketing major students will acquire the knowledge and skill sets to identify and satisfy customer needs to help organizations achieve their marketing goals. The specific topics are broadly categorized into those of product, pricing, promotion and distribution strategies, evolving around the understanding of consumers. Student will also learn how to conduct marketing research, and apply modern marketing tools and strategies. We also offer a number of elective courses that fulfill more specific needs of our students.
Marketing is both a social and managerial process that helps companies to execute mutually beneficial exchanges with their customers. It is how firms create sustainable competitive advantage, superior value and enjoy long-term growth. Graduates entering into the workforce with the Marketing major are equipped with a strong foundation in business and the tools to build and execute a successful marketing plan for any sized business. Employment opportunities include marketing manager, media analyst, sales representative, purchasing agent, pricing analyst, brand manager, market research expert, logistics manager, operations supervisor, retailing manager and many others. Admission Requirements
All students who are interested in graduating with a B.S. in Business degree in Marketing start by being declared as “pre-majors.” Pre-majors must complete Core Writing, Core Mathematics, the Pre-Business Core, and a total of 60 units before meeting with an advisor to declare the Marketing major. Students must declare their major before they may take any courses in the Upper-Division Business Core.
