The School of Public Health offers a series of courses leading to a degree in Community Health Sciences with an emphasis in Kinesiology (CHS KIN). Students may choose between specializations in teaching physical education or pre-professional preparation. The CHS KIN curriculum will appeal to students who wish to pursue a career in physical education, either teaching or a graduate program in education. In addition, the CHS KIN is an excellent preparation for pre-health professional students seeking admission to professional programs in the health sciences and dental and medical schools.
The program of study will include the University Core Curriculum, general electives, and required preparatory courses in the study of the human body. Students will be required to complete four core courses in CHS. These four courses are the foundation of all CHS degrees and partially fulfill requirements for students to obtain a degree that is accredited by Certification of Schools of Public Health (CEPH). If students desire, they may also sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist exam (CHES).
