Students in the secondary degree program in physical education will demonstrate: - a strong foundation of knowledge in teaching physical education from the K- 12 level in schools by developing well-detailed lesson plans and units that reflect physical education as a theory and as a practice paired with alternatives to the traditional approaches to curriculum development and implementation.
- inclusive practices that include learners from diverse perspectives and learning styles. These practices will show an understanding of physical education from a K-12 perspective in both concrete and abstract formats through problem-solving, creative analytical and critical thinking skills, and physical skills to formulate multiple perspectives on form, content, and disciplines inherent in physical education.
- an understanding of curriculum in their selection of curriculum, instructional planning and lesson delivery at the pre-planning, during planning and post-lesson phases of teaching, ways to move beyond the structures of physical education as a subject by including ways to reflect and offer multiple perspectives that enable the students to analyze ideas, abstractions, and “what if” scenarios in diverse physical settings.
