The Indigenous Studies minor is focused on cultures, knowledges, histories, and experiences of Indigenous peoples in the Americas and across the globe. The minor is offered through the Gender, Race and Identity program in the College of Liberal Arts. Students will employ a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including Indigenous methods, to understand the rights of Indigenous peoples, their languages, cultures, and socio-political systems. Students also will examine forces that create, shape, and regulate identity, and thus influence both Indigenous experiences and perceptions of those experiences.

I. Program Requirements (18 units)
Students are required to take ETS 280 and 6 additional units from Indigenous-Focused Electives for a total of 9 units. The remaining courses (9 units) may be from either Indigenous-Focused Electives or Contextual Electives. - Indigenous-Focused electives focus on Indigenous perspectives and experiences as a primary course goal.
- Contextual electives focus on another subject area with Indigenous topics or critical identity studies as significant course components.
