Students who start their career at Diablo Valley College may complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing by following the course of study described below.

A candidate for a bachelor’s degree must earn a minimum of 122 units, at least 40 of which must be in courses numbered 300 or above. A minimum of 30 units (300-level or above) must be taken in residence at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Note: If you have declared a major, please refer to the University Catalog for specific college requirements in the Silver Core Curriculum.

Admission Requirements

During completion of the final semester of prerequisites, pre-nursing majors may apply for entrance to the nursing major by completing the formal application found on the website for OSN: www.unr.edu/nursing. Admission to the nursing major is based on the GPA for selected courses included on the application to the major. The GPA for those selected courses on the application must be a minimum of 3.0 and include no grade less than ‘C’ in any course.

Note: Students who place in ENG 123 or 126 are not required to complete ENG 122.

CH 203 substitution: HIST 120 or POLS 121 and one of the following must be completed at UNR for CH 203 credit: HIST 217, PSC 100

Note: After matriculation to the University of Nevada, Reno, students may not take substitute courses for Core Humanities. Students must satisfy any remaining CH requirements by completing the required CH courses.
