Students who start their career at Lake Tahoe Community may complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree by following the course of study described below.

A candidate for a bachelor’s degree must earn a minimum of 122 units, at least 40 of which must be in courses numbered 300 or above. A minimum of 30 units (300-level or above) must be taken in residence at the University of Nevada, Reno.

To ensure a successful transition to the University and graduation in four years, students must work with academic advisors at UNR and FLC throughout their career.

Note: If you have declared a major, please refer to the University Catalog for specific college requirements in the Silver Core Curriculum.

Admission Requirements

During completion of the final semester of prerequisites, pre-nursing majors may apply for entrance to the nursing major by completing the formal application found on the website for OSN: www.unr.edu/nursing. Admission to the nursing major is based on the GPA for selected courses included on the application to the major. The GPA for those selected courses on the application must be a minimum of 3.0 and include no grade less than ‘C’ in any course.

Note: After matriculation to the University of Nevada, Reno, students may not take substitute courses for Core Humanities. Students must satisfy any remaining CH requirements by completing the required CH courses.
