Students who start their career at Yuba College may complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree by following the course of study described below.

A candidate for a bachelor’s degree must earn a minimum of 122 units, at least 40 of which must be in courses numbered 300 or above. A minimum of 30 units (300-level or above) must be taken in residence at the University of Nevada, Reno.

To ensure a successful transition to the University and graduation in four years, students must work with academic advisors at UNR and YC throughout their career.

Note: If you have declared a major, please refer to the University Catalog for specific college requirements in the Silver Cove Curriculum.

Admission Requirements

During completion of the final semester of prerequisites, pre-nursing majors may apply for entrance to the nursing major by completing the formal application found on the website for OSN: www.unr.edu/nursing. Admission to the nursing major is based on the GPA for selected courses included on the application to the major. The GPA for those selected courses on the application must be a minimum of 3.0 and include no grade less than ‘C’ in any course.

Complete the courses listed below at Yuba College to meet the General Education requirements for your major program at the University of Nevada, Reno.

NOTE: Refer to the Core Curriculum chapter of this catalog for information regarding the “Core English and Math Completion Policy.”

Silver Core Writing (3-6 units) - CO1, CO3

UNR ENG 102: ENGL 1B or 1C

Note: Students who place in ENGL 1B or 1C are not required to complete ENGL 1A.

Note: Complete the second natural sciences course at UNR.

United States and Nevada Constitutions (3 units)

CH 203 substitution: HIST 17A or POLSC 1 and one of the following must be completed at UNR for CH 203 credit: HIST 102, 217, PSC 100 or PSC 208

Note: After matriculation to the University of Nevada, Reno, students may not take substitute courses for Core Humanities. Students must satisfy any remaining CH requirements by completing the required CH courses.
