Public Health, B.S. (Environmental Health Emphasis)

The Public Health degree offers an integrated program of study in the multidimensional aspects of population health, health promotion, and disease/disability prevention. It is suited for students who are interested in epidemiology, social & behavioral health, environmental health, health administration, health policy, and/or biostatistics. A degree in public health is appropriate for students who are interested in working in a wide range of settings including universities, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and health care settings.
Students interested in the relationships between people and their environment and students who desire a career in environmental health should select the environmental health emphasis. Upon graduation, students with the Public Health B.S. degree with an emphasis in environmental health will be eligible to sit for the National Environmental Health Association’s Registered Environmental Health Specialist / Registered Sanitarian credential examination (Track C).

- Public Health Communication: Students should be able to communicate public health information, in both oral and written forms and through a variety of media, to diverse audiences.
- Public Health Information Literacy: Students should be able to locate, use, evaluate and synthesize public health information.
- Public Health Data: Students should be able to use and interpret public health data.
