Art (Graphic Design), Minor

The Graphic Design Minor emphasizes hands-on design approaches, while critical analysis, theory, research, and application will be explored. Students will become well-versed in Graphic Design competencies that will directly relate to marketplace requirements for hiring.

Admission Requirements


To be accepted as a minor in Graphic Design, a student must have completed the following:

  • One ART course from the “Foundations” requirement below
  • GRC 116 with a “C” or better
  • GRC 200 with a “C” or better

Note: This minor is not open to students pursuing a major in Graphic Design.

I. Program Requirements (24 units)


  • Minor GPA | 2.0
  • Minor Upper-Division Units | 9
  • Minor Residency Requirement | 6 Upper-Division Units in the minor at UNR
  • Unit Limits: Per College of Liberal Arts policy, no more than 9 units counted toward any major may be reused to meet the requirements of this minor.

Earn at least a “C” in GRC coursework for this minor. Students may repeat GRC courses only once. Completion of minor requirements will be delayed at least a year for students who are required to repeat coursework.
