The Campus and Surrounding Area

The 290-acre campus of the University of Nevada, Reno is one of the most historic and beautiful locations in northern Nevada. Featuring buildings that are nearly 150 years old as well as a University Quadrangle that is listed as a “Jeffersonian Academic Village” on the National Register of Historic Places, to some of the most technologically advanced libraries, facilities, and laboratories in the country, the University campus is one that melds the history with a sophisticated, inclusive and diverse top-tier learning environment. Surrounding the University are the cities of Reno and Sparks, which are both noted for their quality of life, great outdoor and cultural offerings, and economies that have rapidly transformed in recent years as the region has grown into an innovation and technology hub. Just 45 minutes away by car sits majestic Lake Tahoe, which, at 6,229 feet above sea level, is widely regarded as America’s most beautiful alpine lake. Surrounded by dozens of world-class ski resorts, and hundreds of miles of mountain-biking and hiking trails, Lake Tahoe is one of the world’s most well-known playgrounds for outdoor recreation lovers.
