Student Financial Aid and Scholarships

The University administers an extensive program of financial aid services including merit scholarships, need-based grants, loans and work-study. Assistance is available to eligible students who have demonstrated their ability to successfully pursue their educational goals. Financial aid is a supplement to the contribution toward college costs that can reasonably be expected from the student and the family. Since college is a “planned investment”, all factors involved in financing an education should be evaluated and considered in advance. Complete the following three steps annually between October 1 and February 1 to maximize your aid:

  1. US Citizens and eligible non-citizens complete the FAFSA found at fafsa.ed.gov while DACA, undocumented and returning international students should complete the Institutional Methodology for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students found at unr.edu by searching Institutional Methodology
  2. Complete the Graduate & Undergraduate Scholarship application in MyNEVADA supplemental forms
  3. Apply for external scholarships but NEVER pay for applications or searches. More information is found at https://www.unr.edu/financial-aid/understanding-financial-aid/scholarships/external-scholarship-searches
