CHS 337 - Aging: An Interdisciplinary Approach

(3 units)
Theories, methods, policies and programs pertinent to the aged. Includes exploration of an individuals ability to age successfully. (CHS 337 and GERO 337 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)

Recommended preparation: CHS 101  or SW 101 .

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate a broad perspective on the contemporary field of gerontology.
2. Students will be able to develop an understanding of the issues, challenges, and opportunities in growing older.
3. Students will be able to describe current resources and services offered for seniors, especially in our community, and will be able to envision creative new ones.
4. Students will be able to develop a vision for the future of aging, for themselves as well as others.
5. Students will be able to describe opportunities for them in the field of gerontology, regardless of their majors and career interests.
