Survey of British and American literatures between 1800 and the present.

Prerequisite(s): ENG 297  or ENG 298 ; English major or minor or secondary education major with English as a major or minor teaching field.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the major movements in literature written in English from 1800 to the present.
2. Students will be able to identify and explain the relations among genres including poetry, drama, and fiction in literature written in English from 1800 to the present.
3. Students will be able to link developments in literature with other historical developments.
4. Students will be able to use appropriate critical terminology in analytical essays about texts.
