NURS 439 - Care of the Chronically Ill: Theory (2 units) Theoretical foundation for professional nursing care of groups of clients with chronic health care needs.
Prerequisite(s): NURS 343 ; NURS 346 ; NURS 353 ; NURS 418 . Corequisite(s): NURS 433 ; NURS 434 ; NURS 441 .
Units of Lecture: 2 Offered: Every Fall and Summer Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to synthesize findings in evidenc- based nursing research for effective care of clients with chronic health care needs. 2. Students will be able to recognize physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and cultural alteration experienced by groups of clients with chronic health care needs. 3. Students will be able to identify and address advocacy issues for groups of clients with chronic health care needs. 4. Students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing care for clients with chronic health care needs.
