EDSC 463 - Teaching Secondary Science (3 units) Content and methods in teaching secondary science with emphasis on scientific literacy, inquiry, demonstrations, full class investigations, instructional technology and the Science Technology and Society philosophy.
Prerequisite(s): EDSC 321 ; admission to a secondary education program.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate a variety of teaching strategies and skills appropiate to the science standards, your class goals, the needs of society, and the diverse contemporary students you will teach. 2. develop effective lesson plans to support the development of science knowledge and practices in secondary students using contemporary theories on how students learn. 3. use the NGSS and the NVACSS as a guide to determine the curriculum in the science courses you will teach.
