MUS 353 - Jazz Improvisation III (2 units) Performance-oriented study of intermediate-to-advanced techniques of improvisation in the jazz idiom.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 254 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 2 Offered: Every Fall - Even Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate ability to musically emulate many of the great jazz improvisers of the past and present. 2. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the reharmonizations common during the “be bop” era. 3. perform blues and “rhythm changes” contrafacts in multiple keys.
