MUS 356 - Jazz Arranging II (3 units) Analysis of the jazz harmonic idiom as applied to small group and big band jazz.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 355 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Odd Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. utilize proper notation and scoring techniques for arranging in a big band setting. 2. discuss and express their creative ideas in developing large ensemble jazz arrangements. 3. analyze and demonstrate the techniques of several pioneers of big band arranging and composing.
