MUS 485 - Internship in Music Education (1 to 3 units) Application of course content included in MUS 381, MUS 384 or MUS 441 in the schools or community agencies under the supervision of school or agency personnel and university staff members.
Maximum units a student may earn: 12
Prerequisite(s): MUS 381 ; MUS 384 or MUS 441 .
Grading Basis: Graded Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. take part in successful teaching experiences under the mentorship of an experienced teacher. 2. indentify best practices of various components of teaching, e.g. curricular choices, sequencing, and assessment, utilized by teachers. 3. indentify routines, procedures, and strategies that facilitate successful student achievement. 4. indentify classroom management strategies and describe the impact that management (or lack thereof) has on a music classroom. 5. reflect upon and assess curricular choices made by an instructor through conversations and in writing. 6. reflect upon and assess their own teaching and feedback from mentors to improve skills though discussions and assignments.
