SPAN 212 - Second Year Spanish II (3 units) Intermediate-level study of Spanish structures with an emphasis on listening, writing, reading, and conversation. Completion of SPAN 212 satisfies the College of Liberal Arts foreign language requirement and counts toward a minor in Spanish.
Prerequisite(s): SPAN 211 or a Spanish Placement score of 347 or more or SAT Spanish Subject Test score of 600 or more.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall, Spring, and Summer
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate comprehension of spoken Spanish well enough to recognize the main idea and some detail from video material. 2. talk about everyday topics, such as school, work, and interests. 3. read literary texts and respond to them orally and in writing. 4. produce written compositions on a variety of everyday topics. 5. demonstrate knowledge of the basic rules of Spanish grammar and use them in writing and speaking. 6. produce written and spoken dialogue about present, past, and hypothetical situations. 7. explain cultural values of the Hispanic world as well as the underlying similarities and differences among cultures.
