SPAN 413 - Interpretation II (3 units) The role of the interpreter, including the code of ethics. Practice with sight, consecutive and simultaneous interpretations in legal, medical, and business settings. Interpretation from English into Spanish and vice versa.
Prerequisite(s): SPAN 317 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify key concepts of interpretation. 2. identify and articulate the ethics and role of the interpreter. 3. show cultural sensitivity when interpreting in the field of community interpreting. 4. demonstrate comprehension of the main principles and techniques of interpretation from English into Spanish as well as from Spanish into English.
