ANTH 444S - Bioarchaeology (3 units) Interpretation of cultural behavior in prehistoric populations through analysis of human skeletal remains. Emphasis on paleopathology, stress markers, cultural modifications, and affinity assessment.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Even Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate understanding of scientific methods used to study the human skeleton. 2. demonstrate knowledge of basic osteology. 3. demonstrate awareness of the diversity of research questions that can be pursued using the human skeleton. 4. demonstrate knowledge of the research methods in bioarchaeology and ability to apply these methods.
