ECON 463 - International Monetary Relations (3 units) CO11 Analysis of the theory of international capital movements, exchange rates, the balance of payments, international monetary relations, the effects of government monetary, fiscal and exchange rate policy, and international institutions.
Prerequisite(s): ECON 103 or HON 220 . Recommended Preparation: ECON 303 ; ECON 304 or ECON 462 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate an understanding of the determinants of monetary exchange rates and reasons for their changes. 2. relate a country’s balance of payments, and its monetary and financial policies to its exchange rate. 3. describe the role of international economic and monetary institutions. 4. analyze the effect of changes in domestic economic policies to international balance of payments and exchange rates.
