GEOG 103 - Physical Geography of the Earth’s Environment

Physical elements of the earth, its natural features and their significance to humanity. Study of the atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and hydrosphere. Four laboratory experiences required.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of Core Curriculum Mathematics Requirement or SAT of 610 or revised SAT of 630 or ACT 27 or Corequisite.  Corequisite(s): MATH 120  or MATH 126  or MATH 127  or MATH 128  or MATH 176  or MATH 181

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. explain natural and physical phenomena that relate to the environments of the earth (e.g. global climate patterns and processes).
2. describe scientific methods and processes related to the study of the world’s environments, including the atmosphere, the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, and the biosphere.
3. gather evidence concerning scientific questions, make scientific claims based on the evidence gathered, and logically defend these claims.
