HIST 311 - Introduction to Public History (3 units) Issues and practice of presenting history to general audiences via historical sites, markers, and museums; mass media; heritage tourism, new technologies; and other means.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate a broad knowledge of the field of Museum Studies gained through readings, class discussion and visits to museum sites. 2. demonstrate understanding of current issues in the field of museum studies gained through readings, class discussion, and interaction with museum professionals. 3. demonstrate specific knowledge of the specialized work of museums and related institutions through the practical experience of internships.
