HP 403 - World Architecture (3 units) CO13 Historical survey of world architectural styles; styles seen as reflections of major sociocultural patterns of technology, ideology and historical connections.
Prerequisite(s): General Education courses (CO1-CO3) completed; at least 3 courses from CO4-CO8 completed; Junior or Senior standing.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe in detail the foundations of architectural history, in discussion and written work. 2. document the trends in architectural styles in the United States and across the globe through written assignments and class activities. 3. compare and contrast shape and space concepts in different trends in world architecture. 4. explore the relationship between architectural styles, their constructive logic, their technology, and their ideological intentions in relation to the artistic, intellectual and socio-political context in which they originated. 5. articulate and evaluate connections among local, national, and international trends and movements in the built environment.
