MUS 341 - Music History I (3 units) Survey of Western music: ancient Greece through early Beethoven.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. critically assess specific music examples through actively engaged listening. 2. analyze scores from an historical perspective. 3. articulate how music functions in culture. 4. articulate the ways in which western “art” music has helped shape (and in turn is shaped by) individual and communal senses of self and other. 5. write about music critically, analytically, and historically.
